Our spring clinic features a 1-day clinic teaching fundamentals, including throwing, catching, route running, and the basic rules of flag football. The Spring clinic is open to Garden City residents currently in Grades 5th through 10th grade.
ABOUT LIGHTNING GIRLS FLAG FOOTBALL
Garden City School District is considering starting a girls flag football team for the 2026–27 school year, depending on student interest. This would be a spring sport, and Garden City would join a group of 26 schools currently competing in Nassau County.
To help promote the sport and increase interest, GCAA and Garden City Thunder will be offering a girls flag football program under the banner of Garden City Lightning. We will be hosting a free clinic on Monday, June 23rd at 6:30 PM at Garden City High School..
This clinic will be open to all girls from Garden City in graduating years 2027 through 2032 (current fifth through tenth graders). All girls are welcome to try out, no matter what other spring sport they play. We are not looking to take athletes away from their favorite spring sport— we are only looking to allow them to try something new and exciting.

What About Other Grades?
If your daughter is not currently in 5th through 10th grade, but is interested in playing flag football, please fill out the survey below the help us gauge interest. Based on interest, we will consider adding additional age groups in the fall.
